Deep water changes the specification in three ways. Deeper tows put more load on the ground line, so the belly twine must be heavier than a coastal rig. Species choice sets the mesh: small-mesh for deepwater shrimp-class targets, wide-mesh for demersal fish. And vessel horsepower decides how much net you can actually drag — oversize the net and you lose towing speed; undersize it and you leave catch on the ground.
