Where Fine Mesh Fits in a Thrips Program
Fine-mesh netting is a barrier layer, not a whole program — thrips enter through vents, doors and soil, so pair the screen with sticky traps along the vent line and a strict door-discipline rule on the crew. Expect a ventilation trade-off: at 80-120 mesh the sheet restricts airflow noticeably, so plan for it in warm months — roof vents that open automatically, side-wall roll-ups, or a lower mesh density on walls with this fine grade on the ridge where thrips enter from above. For fruit crops, thrips damage is mostly cosmetic scarring at petal fall, so the exclusion window is shorter than for vegetables and the same roll covers several flushes in a season.
