Shrimp gillnets work differently from finfish nets — the prawn pushes head-first into the mesh and tangles on the way back out, so the catch depends on clean, uniform openings and a web that stays taut in current. This single-layer 100 mm multi-monofilament net is pre-rigged with float line and weighted bottom line, so it fishes correctly from the first set.

Why Single-Layer and Pre-Rigged

• Single-layer web — trammel and multi-panel nets catch more but weigh more, haul slower by hand and pick up more debris; for dedicated shrimp crews a single layer keeps soak time and haul effort under control
• Multi-monofilament nylon — the low-visibility filament bundle tangles the prawn without alarming it, and survives dragging contact with sandy grounds better than a stiff twisted twine
• Factory pre-rigging — the two classic rigging failures are floats that pull free under tension and a bottom line that sags off the seabed; factory spacing keeps the web hanging at the right tension set after set
• 100 mm standard mesh — matched to commercial-size prawn; the opening must let the head pass yet catch the body as the prawn reverses out

The mesh opening sets the size class you retain, so match it to your local market:

• 80 mm — smaller schooling shrimp and mixed coastal prawn
• 100 mm — standard commercial prawn, the volume size class for most export markets
• 120–150 mm — large coastal prawn and tiger-prawn class stocks
