PE vs Nylon: When to Choose Which
Neither fiber is "better" — they fail and flex differently, and the right answer depends on the gear:
- PE for speed and economy — seine bodies, guard nets and farm pens where panels are large and hauling is frequent; lighter to handle and cheaper to replace
- Nylon when shock loads rule — PE stretches little; where a school surges hard against the net, nylon's elasticity absorbs the blow, so keep nylon in the codend or bunt if that is your fishing pattern
